OK.

Just breathe.

You were always here in the first place, there’s just been so much else to do and be.

And not all of it has been that pleasant, no?

Come TWIMming with me! Have FUN with your mind, get to know it’s in and outs and discover how relieving it is to be able to smile and laugh at yourself (again).

Please note that I do not provide support in any other practice.

What is TWIM?

Technically, Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation is the re-yoking of collectedness (Vipassana) and serenity (Samatha) practice together, as taught by Bhante Vimalaramsi and Dhamma Sukha Meditation Center in Missouri.

In other words, it’s the opportunity to create a safe and supportive mental space for your mind to just be its goofy self (serenity), all while watching and learning how it all comes together (collected observation).

Why TWIM?

Up until now you have been in charge of and responsible for everything that life has thrown at you. Anxiety, depression, insomnia, fear, anger, excitement. You have to do something about everything…

TWIM asks the question, “Wait, did I get up yesterday and say to myself ‘Gee, I haven’t been anxious much lately. I think tomorrow I should be anxious all day to make up for it.’?”

Maybe, just maybe, none of this was planned.

I certainly didn’t think things would turn out this way. 😛

What are the Benefits?

Oh, there’s just a few…

  • You smile more.
  • Negative and unwholesome mental states fade quicker.
  • You become more able to make uplifting and positive decisions.
  • Conversations and relationships involve less arguing and more cooperation.
  • Your efficiency in life goes up as you get better and better at seeing your mind become distracted and 6Ring it.
  • You can quit habits, such as smoking. (On a 10 day retreat, not much longer in real life)
  • Your life goes from how it should be and why to “What needs to be done now?”.

How do I start?

I’m Struggling!

Gently TWIM by:

  • Never sitting for less than half an hour, even if you are really distracted! (These are the times you are learning the most!) Sitting in a chair you don’t easily slouch in is perfect.
  • Checking to make sure your 6R’s are all there:
    • Re-cognize when your attention is not on Loving Kindness
    • Re-lease and allow whatever you were attending to be as it is
    • Re-lax the tension and tightness in your mind and body
    • Re-Smile, cuz you takin’ life too seriously!
    • Re-Turn to Loving Kindness
    • Re-peat whenever not sending Metta/Loving -Kindness to yourself or your friend
  • Are you feeling that warm and fuzzy feeling? No?
    • The feeling can be warm and fuzzy if you are inclined to the Loving part.
    • The feeling can be kind and generous if you are inclined to the Kindness part.
    • Both are ok!
  • Need a cute reminder? Here are some kittens and puppies for you:
